Physical Education

CBe-learn Physical Education has rigorous requirements for activity and supervision and requires students to be highly self-directed and motivated.

Please review these P.E. Requirements prior to registration.

Students are expected to participate in a pre-course and post-course fitness assessment, as well as an introductory meeting session. The Orientation & Fitness Assessment will take place at Lord Shaughnessy High School (2336 53 Ave. SW.)

After registering for P.E. 10, 20 or 30 with the Guidance Counsellor, students must then sign up for a Parent Orientation & Fitness Assessment. This sign up will be available once the student has been granted access to their Phys. Ed. course.

Orientation & Assessment Dates

Students (and their parents if they are under 18 years) must attend one of the Orientation and Assessment sessions. The dates and times for the Orientation & Assessment will be updated semester-by-semester, and will be available from the Phys Ed teacher within the Brightspace (D2L) course.

Physical Education Activities

Students are expected to complete their activity component under the supervision of a qualified supervisor who can verify their activity in their activity log. Students must complete and verify a minimum 85 hours of physical activity from a variety of activities. (For P.E. 10 - 3 Credit the requirement is a total of 50 hours.)

Students will be expected to participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities consistent with the Alberta Education Program of Studies, including: dance, games, types of gymnastics, individual activities in an alternate environment; e.g. aquatics and outdoor pursuits.
