Instrumental Music (Band) (full year) 10/20/30 

Prerequisite: 10/20 (in sequence) 

This course is designed to focus on the development of individual skills based on the provincial program of studies. Outcomes include Technique, Interpretation, Rhythm, Theory & Ear Training, and History. Student instruction is based on the skill level at the start of the year and each student develops skills independently with lots of flexibility around testing timelines and pace. A regular practice routine is an expectation in this course. Students who take this course MUST also register in Band 15/25/35. This fine art course is scheduled within the regular timetable (Instrumental Music 10 is paired with PE 10 for the full year). 

Band 15/25/35 (full year -OT) 

Corequisite: Instrumental Music 10/20/30 (in sequence) 

This is a performance-based course for students taking Instrumental Music 10/20/30.  These rehearsals are typically held 2 mornings per week before school - attendance is essential as this group relies on every member's consistent participation in order to succeed. Students will develop basic rehearsal techniques while exploring a variety of repertoire in preparation for performance and/or travel.  


Instrumental Jazz 15/25/35 (full year - OT)

Corequisite: Instrumental Music 10/20/30, Band 15/25/35

This is a performance-based course for instrumental music students. These rehearsals are typically held 2 days a week after school - attendance is essential as this group relies on every memeber's consistent participation in order to succeed.  Students will develop basic rehearsal techniques while exploring styles such as swing, latin, rock, funk, samba etc. in preparation for performance and/or travel.


Choir 15/25/35 (full year -OT) 

Prerequisite: Choir 15/25 and Choral Music 10/20 (in sequence) 

This is a performance-based course for students who love to sing! Rehearsals will be held 2 times per week before/after school. Students will develop basic singing techniques while exploring a wide variety of repertoire. This group performs in various different settings throughout the year, in and outside of the school. ALL voices are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. 

Electronic Music (General Music) 10/20/30 

Prerequisite: 10/20 (in sequence)  

This course is for anyone interested in producing and creating their own music on a computer. Using Ableton software, midi keyboards and other online resources, students will learn the basics of music production. Create your own projects, sound effects, and record acoustic sounds. No previous experience is necessary.
