Principal's Message

June 1, 2021 Update

Dear CJM Families & Friends,
It was wonderful to welcome our CJM Friends back into the building. It is also amazing that we are now approaching June!
As we get ready to close out the 2020-21 school year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of our learning community – students, staff and families for all your efforts and perseverance over the year. There have been many challenges, but there is also a great deal to be proud of.
Our students and teachers focused on building vocabulary understanding across all disciplines using two key strategies this year: SEEI and Generate, Sort, Connect, Elaborate. The school also focused on student's overall sense of competence, confidence and belonging as learners by engaging in the CBE Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework, The Seven Sacred Teachings and the Little Hummingbird. It has been a wonderful and thoughtful year of learning. Thank you to our families for taking the time to provide feedback on our School Development Plan goals for this year. The feedback has been posted on our school website under the About Us > Our School tab.
Report Cards – for the last reporting period of the year, all CBE schools will use the online version of the report card for parents/legal guardians.  The report card will be available to view/print through MyCBE/PowerSchool account.  Once logged in, you will see an additional tab titled 'Report Card' – select this tab to view the report card. We will notify families when the report card is available for viewing.
If you have not already set up a MyCBE/PowerSchool account you will need to do this.  Instructions can be found here:  MyCBE/PowerSchool

Transportation Pre-Registration Deadline is June 6
For 2021-22 school year, transportation service levels will remain the same and the proposed fees are lower than the current school year.
Pre-registration is available using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Families must register by June 6 for students to be added to routes for the start of the school year. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.
With all the uncertainty families are currently facing, we want to assure families that there is no risk in pre-registering for transportation. If families think they may need transportation services for the next school year, please pre-register by the deadline.
Please note: If you're a family that is planning on moving out of our designated communities – Whitehorn, Carol Spring or Taradale (only TLC) please contact the office as you will be required to transfer to your designated school for community or TLC next year. We appreciate your continued support.
Our next School Council meeting is on Wednesday, June 16th; as with all School Council meetings this year, it will be held virtually, beginning at 6:00pm on Microsoft Teams. This will be our last meeting for the school year. We are excited to wrap-up and set goals for next year.
Monday, June 28 – Early Dismissal (1:00 pm) and last day of school.
Tuesday, June 29 – Appeals Day. Should you have questions of concerns about your child's report card – parents are invited to contact their child's teacher by e-mail.  All teachers will also be available from 8:00am – 12:00pm (noon) by e-mail on Appeals Day.
We look forward to the next 4 weeks of learning! We are so proud of our students and staff for all their hard work and perseverance!
Sincerely,
Ms. Bains, Principal & Ms. Harder, Assistant Principal
