What We Learned This Week:

  • "We read the book "Not a Stick" and then we made an art page where we took a stick, glued it on and then draw a picture and write this is not a stick, this is a ----." - Anniyah
  • "We learned about healthy foods." - Sahib
  • "We got these color papers and cut out a heart and because it was a hundred days of school, we had to cut out a hundred hearts and then we had to write what we love about Grade 2." - Samarveer
  • "We got a piece of paper that has a spoon, fork and plate and we were putting the categories of fruits, vegetables, proteins and grains and then we had to put food that we eat for either breakfast, lunch or dinner." - Prabhnoor
  • "Ms. Khan was sorting us in different ways like cardigans and not cardigans. The last one was 2 attributes, velcro, shoe laces and some of us had both." - Abhinav

  • “We learned about dandelions. When it’s night time, a dandelion closes its flowers and when its morning, it opens.” –Abhinav
  • “We learned about temperature in science and what things are hot and what things are cold and what we should do if they’re hot or cold.” –Eshaal

  • “We learned that dandelions, when the white dandelions, you blow it, it has these tiny seeds and they go for a long time. When it lands on the Earth, the dandelions grow even bigger and bigger.” –Samarveer

What We Learned This Week:

  • “We made a Venn diagram and compared “The Little Hummingbird” to “Very First Last Time” and “Mikissuk’s Secret”. –Sajed
  • “We did our sharing circle about how our circle Friday was”. –Nirvik
  • “We learned about frostbite and hypothermia.” – Eshaal
  • “We learned “Mikissuk’s Secret”. – Sahib
  • “We learned that don’t stay outside for a long period of time or you will get a frostbite. If you get frostbite, your parents have to rush to the hospital and the hospital workers can do something about it.” – Imaan
  • “Frostbite is your skin gets freeze and there’s three parts of it.” – Henni
  • “Frostbite is like a thing when you stay out for too long. If you don’t get to the hospital in time, they may have to amputate your fingers off.” –Tesh

  • Gymnastics during gym class will begin next week for the month of January. Our class has gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some safety reminders: long hair needs to be tied back, and TLC students should wear pants and remove their ties.

  • “Aspen trees have round trees and they’re the trees with the blackish and some white on the tree. Even if a little wind blows, their leaves start trembling.” –Eshaal
  • “When the bark of the aspen trees, when a new one comes, it’s kind of black coloration.” –Sajed
  • “We did some actions (drama) for the trembling aspen trees and we practiced them and showed them to the class.” –Sudiksha
  • “When the branch grows, there is a white part on the branch called the beads. If you find aspen bead then you can grow an aspen tree in your backyard.” –Tesh

  • “The fur traders went in a boat and the first man (explorer) said “look at this land, let’s stay here”, they saw the first nations people and the they said we already stayed here then they said let’s trade something for the fur and they said no, so the man traded with another group of people to trade fur with them.” – Samarveer

  • We learned about comparing shapes and how they are different and the same. -Nirvik

Learning Update for the Week:

- We learned about the ones that was in the war, and give us freedom and give us space. (Samarveer)

- We learned about the fights that were happening in long time ago, and that's still happening. (Anwesha)

- We made an owl and we learned about poppies, and we read a book about poppies. (Aariz)

- We made owls together. (Rania)

- We did the owls. (Manmol)

- We learned about our soldiers that passed away, they were trying to help Canada and every single country. (Samar)

- In Math, we did splat math. (Sehaj)

- We tried to finish writing about the veterans. (Isihaq)

- We were learning about the soldiers that fought for us. They let go of their lives for us. (Gurneet)

THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY FOR REMEMBRANCE DAY. We should wear a poppy and think of those that served for us, for our freedom.

We have been collecting nature items to make our very own alphabet for the classroom. 



We have started making patterns in math. Ask me what a core in a pattern is and how many times it needs to repeat to make a repeating pattern.
