Wednesday, March 18th 2020

Hi everyone! Teachers have been hard at work here at school this week. Please remember to pick up your child's belongings as per the schedule that was emailed out to you. Many bags were not picked up. D2L has recently been updated with our math game manuals, as well as some links to useful websites.

I know many of you placed a book order. I was unable to cancel the order with Scholastic. It looks like book orders may need to be picked up if we are able to return to school this year, or in September if not. I apologize for this inconvenience.

The CBE sent out a link yesterday with some ideas for Learning at Home:

Please remember that next week is Spring Break, and even though you have all been home for a while at this point, that you find time to have a break and have fun, while staying safe and healthy!

Please continue to support your child's learning by reading, writing, having conversations, asking questions, and even playing math games with cards!

Miss you all! :)

- Ms. McLachlan

We discussed the importance of keeping our hands away from our faces, especially the eyes, nose, and mouth; washing our hands before eating, after using the washroom, and when coming home from school; practicing good hygiene, like coughing or sneezing into the elbow rather than the hands. We also talked about how it is important to keep up a healthy diet to keep our immune systems happy.

Parents, homework infractions will not be given this week if you are choosing to keep your child home from school due to concerns about Covid-19. If your child attends school, and homework is missing or incomplete, an infraction will still need to be given.

Hi Everyone!

Some important things:

1) Really important information packages came home in blue folders today. It is super important for an adult to review all information and return the package to school in the blue folder. The "demographic information" has a place for a signature on the back- please sign here, even if there are no changes, to acknowledge that all information is correct.

2) Please ensure your child is dressing for the weather. We will still be going outside for recesses in a light rain, so it is important to wear jackets and appropriate foot wear. If the rain is heavy, we will stay inside for recesses.

3) Please make sure your child's name is written in their green TLC cardigan. Many have already gone missing, and without a name written inside, it is next to impossible to find out who the sweater belongs to.

4) The school's Terry Fox run is on Friday, September 13th. TLC students can wear casual on this day, and dress for the weather. The school is also collecting monetary donations for the Terry Fox Foundation this week.

Have a good night! :)

RT @DalhousieCBE: Social distancing requirements hampering reading buddies? No problem! Our @DalhousieCBE Gr 4/5 HUB students recorded read alouds for younger students to listen to. Authentic audience and sense of ownership and pride! #SomosDalhousie #WeAreCBE @yycbedu @CBElanguages

Each year Alberta Education sends an important survey to parents/guardians of students in Grades 4, 7 and 10. The results are used to assess satisfaction with the quality of education & we use the information to improve teaching and learning. #yycbe
