COVID-19 Notices

Outbreak Status Ended

January 8, 2021

Dear Parents:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has asked that we inform you that the outbreak status at your school is declared “over”. AHS made a decision to end all school outbreaks, so that schools have a fresh start when students return on January 11, 2021.  AHS does not provide written notification when an outbreak is declared over; however, we have been encouraged to share this information with our community.

AHS also asked that the terms for an outbreak be shared again: Should 2 or more cases occur within a 14 day period of each other from the same school, a new outbreak will be declared for the site – and the outbreak will remain open for 28 days from the last onset of a case in that school.

We look forward to strictly following AHS guidelines to ensure the safest possible learning environment for our students.

Positive Notification - AHS Confirmed

December 15, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have been notified by Alberta Health Services (AHS) that a case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in an individual from Chinook Park school.

Our school remains open to in-person learning for grade K- 6  all students, and we are working closely with AHS to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff and students. This includes the cleaning and disinfecting of all items touched by the individual, and the removal and storage of all items that cannot be cleaned and disinfected (paper, books, etc.)  in a sealed container for a minimum of 72 hours.

The school has already contacted each family or staff member affected by the positive case, and AHS will be following up only with those individuals. If you were not contacted, your child(ren) are not affected by the positive case.

All students directed to quarantine by AHS will be supported in maintaining course work during the designated period through D2L. They will not join Hub online learning.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff/visitors/volunteers to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.The Alberta Health daily checklist can be found here. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school.

If you/your child has any of the symptoms of illness listed on the Alberta Health daily checklist, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811 and stay home/keep your child at home. We will continue to provide additional information to parents / guardians as it is available.

School “Watch” Communication - Nov. 17, 2020

Our school has been marked by the Alberta government as a “watch” on the COVID-19 School Status Map

If a school with an outbreak experiences five or more cases, the government will identify it as a “watch” on the map, and the municipality that school is located in will turn blue. It is important to remember that the ‘watch’ status does not mean there is ongoing transmission in a school, nor does it mean the school is not following public health guidance.

Our school will be removed from the ‘watch’ status when the outbreak is declared over. The standard time frame is 28 days with no new cases from the date the outbreak was declared. A notification will come from the Zone Medical Officer of Health.

Our school continues to follow all direction from Alberta Health Services. We remain committed to working together to both support our students and staff within the school, as well as those who are at home.
