Outbreak Status Ended

January 8, 2021

Dear Parents:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has asked that we inform you that the outbreak status at your school is declared “over”. AHS made a decision to end all school outbreaks, so that schools have a fresh start when students return on January 11, 2021.  AHS does not provide written notification when an outbreak is declared over; however, we have been encouraged to share this information with our community.

AHS also asked that the terms for an outbreak be shared again: Should 2 or more cases occur within a 14 day period of each other from the same school, a new outbreak will be declared for the site – and the outbreak will remain open for 28 days from the last onset of a case in that school.

We look forward to strictly following AHS guidelines to ensure the safest possible learning environment for our students.

School “Watch” Communication - Nov. 17, 2020

Our school has been marked by the Alberta government as a “watch” on the COVID-19 School Status Map

If a school with an outbreak experiences five or more cases, the government will identify it as a “watch” on the map, and the municipality that school is located in will turn blue. It is important to remember that the ‘watch’ status does not mean there is ongoing transmission in a school, nor does it mean the school is not following public health guidance.

Our school will be removed from the ‘watch’ status when the outbreak is declared over. The standard time frame is 28 days with no new cases from the date the outbreak was declared. A notification will come from the Zone Medical Officer of Health.

Our school continues to follow all direction from Alberta Health Services. We remain committed to working together to both support our students and staff within the school, as well as those who are at home.
