Math Club

Students get together on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch to play games focused on improving mental math.

Student Voice Council

Spirit Days

As part of their role, Student Voice Representatives get to choose spirit days for the students.  These days are designed to add some fun for students by dressing up and showing off their creativity.  Student Voice voted to have Crazy Hair day as the first spirit day of the year.  Crazy Hair Day involves students coming to school with the craziest hairstyles.  To help parents remember, school spirit days will be held the same day as Special Lunch.  (Nov. 28 for this month)

Mission

Students meet twice a month to discuss how they want to make a difference, as a collective.  In the past topics they focused upon included:  Mental Health, Indigenous Education, Nutrition, Water Accessibility, Education and Poverty. Student Representatives observed connections between many of the topics and thereafter developed awareness and created fundraisers for the whole school.

GSA

Our Gay-Straight Alliance Club has started!  Students in Grades 4-6 have the option to participate in the GSA every Wednesday.  The mission of this club is to promote a safe and caring environment.

Have a look at some of these photos!

Club Descriptions:

Intramurals: Students will have an opportunity to try a variety of sports (floor hockey, volleyball, etc.)

Reading: Students should bring their own book to the library.

Coding: We will be learning how to navigate Scratch Jr. on the iPads.

Games:  A few games will be provided by the school.  Students are encouraged to bring their own game from home and look after it responsibly.

Yoga:  Students will be exploring some of the fundamentals aspects of yoga and develop strength, coordination and mindful movement patterns.

GSA: Gay–straight student alliances (GSAs) are student run and teacher-supported school-based groups that work to create welcoming, caring, respectful and safe spaces for sexual and gender minority students and their allies in schools.  Essentially, GSAs are designed to provide a safe space that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging.  It is a space where LGBTQ students feel accepted, safe, and not isolated. Students will have lunch together and discuss their visions for the club with the teachers sponsoring the club.  See Powerpoint in the link provided (right hand side of page).
