Math Learning

Math is fun!  To support the work of our School Development Plan, we created the following resources to guide our families in working with their child(ren) in developing their math skills.  Have a look at the videos, try the activities and provide us with feedback!

Fact Fluency is an important component of your child’s success in math and you can play a central role in supporting learning by incorporating at-home  practice into the daily routine, much like you do with reading. Mme French has designed two online presentations that guide you and your child through mathematics fact fluency by using 2-3 minute video clips and super fun and engaging games to demonstrate concepts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

We encourage everyone to engage in these presentations as a family! Get out the Smarties, Goldfish crackers or any other fun manipulative and work alongside the video demonstrations. You will become more informed in the many ways to think of the 4 operations, and will improve your fluency, flexibility and efficiency with mental math calculations and conceptual understanding of number operations.

Here's a sneak preview:

PS. This works well to view on your Smart TV!

So, make it an après-dinner routine… pick one video to watch, talk about the strategy, use your manipulative and HAVE FUN LEARNING!
