Chris Akkerman School is the designated Traditional Learning Centre school for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. See our School Profile for the attendance area. Students from our program move on to Sir Wilfrid Laurier for Grades 6 to 9 in the Traditional Learning Centre Program.

Who Was Chris Akkerman?
The school is named in honour of Chris Akkerman, a former mayor of Forest Lawn and prominent businessman. In 1954 Chris Akkerman was elected Counsellor of Forest Lawn and in 1959, Mayor. He was recognized in 1969 by the provincial government for his "outstanding achievement in the area of community participation."
