One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Under the School Act, a parent society is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. The school principal is not part of this group. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.​​

Parent Society

Our Parent Society is Known as the Chris Akkerman Parent Society

In the past, funds raised by our parent society have purchased technology; built the creative playground; funded bussing for field trips and purchased materials that are enhancements beyond the basic resources required to meet curriculum objectives. 

Meeting Dates/Schedule

Meetings typically follow school council meetings held monthly in the learning commons.
