Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

Back to School Information

First Day of Classes

At the end of August, teachers will make a brief call or send an email to each of their students' parents to introduce themselves and welcome students to their class.  Our first day of classes is Tuesday September 1, 2020.  Grade 1-4 students will meet their teacher in the field behind the school.  The teachers will each have a large sign with their name on it so that students can gather there before moving into the classrooms when the bell rings.  If you are not sure who your teacher is, please come to the school office and we will assist you.

There will be staggered entry for Kindergarten students on the first 2 days of school.  Kindergarten students will meet their teachers at the flag pole at the front of the school.  The Kindergarten teachers will provide information regarding which staggered entry days your child will attend.  Please contact your teacher directly if you need clarification:

School Supplies

Your child will need the following labelled items when they start school:

  • backpack
  • water bottle
  • indoor shoes that are good for both gym and school
  • lunch bag with lunch and a healthy snack

Please ensure that all their school and clothing items, such as jackets, hats, mittens, snowpants, are labelled with their name.  All other school supplies will be provided by the school.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Riding the Bus Flowchart and Checklist
  • Only registered students have bus route and stop information provided through MyCBE / PowerSchool; this is to control the number of students accessing a bus in order to support maintaining healthy distances
  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
  • Students must complete the AHS health assessment every morning before leaving for the bus stop. Students or family members with COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.
  • Masks are mandatory for students K-12, including on school buses
  • All service providers will follow Alberta Education and Alberta Health COVID-19 guidelines
Please visit our Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions page, Transportation Section for more information.

More information about 2020-21 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
