We take safety and security seriously. It is important that we maintain a safe and caring community so that learning can take place.

Visitors & Volunteers

Our school is a closed campus. All visitors and volunteers must report directly to the main office to sign-in and request permission from the school administration to be in the school. This process helps us know where you are in case of an emergency and allows staff and students to know you have signed-in with the office staff by wearing your volunteer/visitor badge. 

In order to ensure school security, all exterior doors will be locked after school commences each day. Anyone who is not a student or school staff member is required to sign-in.

Permission to be Excused

Permission to be excused from school can only be granted by the office upon written request by a parent. Under no circumstances should a student leave the school grounds during school hours without first obtaining permission through the office from a parent. Students who wish to leave the school prior to dismissal must come to the office to call home. School personnel must speak with a parent / guardian to verify that the student has permission to go home. 

After School Activities

Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at the end of the school day. Students who choose to stay and be a spectator at school events in the gym are welcome to do so as long as they remain in the gym and follow school expectations regarding behaviour. The school does not support students who loiter unsupervised after school in or around the school. Students who are not under the direct supervision of a teacher are expected to vacate the building, grounds and neighbouring areas by 4 p.m. at the latest.

Student Pick-up

Students requiring rides need to arrange, in advance, a pick up by 4 p.m. at the latest, or for those participating in school activities, ensure a ride is waiting immediately at the conclusion of the activity. If these arrangements do not meet the needs of parents, then they will have to make alternate arrangements and locations to meet and pick up their child. 

Student Searches

In the event that school safety and security is a concern administration has the right to complete searches of student lockers, student property or personal belongings at any time.
