SWAT

SWAT (Sansom’s Wellness Action Team) is a committee of dedicated students and staff who volunteer to provide health and wellness opportunities at Clarence Sansom. Responsible, self-directed Grade 7, 8, and 9 students are invited to be a part of this great group!

Breakfast Program

Students who participate in the Breakfast Program learn how to prepare and serve nutritionally balanced, delicious breakfasts, under the supervision of Sansom staff. Some examples of menu items include: pancakes, toast, crackers and cheese, smoothies, scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

Bottle Drive, Field Trip, Garden Tower and More!

Each year, SWAT volunteers have the option to take part in a bottle drive, supervised by Sansom staff. The bottle drive is a great way to get involved in the community and raise funds for the SWAT program.

SWAT volunteers may choose to participate in a field trip to visit the Calgary Food Bank, where we will tour the facility and volunteer with Food Bank staff.

Clarence Sansom has a new Garden Tower! SWAT volunteers can sign up to learn about how the Tower works, and help cultivate vegetables and herbs for use around the school.

Throughout the year, there will be many more opportunities to help improve the health and wellness of our school community. Some examples of SWAT initiatives include Fit Club, and projects around Anti-Bullying Week, and Mental Health Awareness Week.

We are looking forward to a fun and healthy year ahead! If you or your parents have any questions, please contact Mrs. Dhaliwal at 403-777-7700.
