Request| Student Forms
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents/legal guardians are required to complete, review and update, some of which are paper, and others are online. In the CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:
Demographic Verification - 2023-24: This form includes your child's personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
Citizenship Information Update - 2023-24: This form becomes available if you change your child's citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
Annual Authorization - 2023-24: This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information. SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc.If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (Includes instructions and a video).
Online forms must be completed thought School Engage. To complete these forms:
Sign into your MyCBE account
Click on the SchoolEngage icon
Select the form
Complete or review and update the form
Click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
Repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Forms that are not found on SchoolEngage will be provided to students on September 1, 2023. It is important to read over, sign and return forms by Thursday September 7, 2023.
Request| Supplies
Please be aware that school supplies are not provided for students in grades 7 through 9. Students should come to school prepared with the necessary supplies to learn. Please refer to the Sansom recommended supply list for further information.
Additional supplies may be required for specific classes. Teachers will provide these lists to their students at the beginning of the course.
If students run out or lose some of their supplies, they will need to replace them. From time to time, students will be required to purchase additional supplies for projects assigned throughout the year.
Inform| Student Code of Conduct
Clarence Sansom School strives to create a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment. CBE employs a practice of Progressive Student Discipline. This means a whole school approach that utilizes a continuum of intervention, supports, and consequences to address inappropriate and unacceptable student behaviour and builds upon strategies that promote positive behaviours. When a student is in repeated non-compliance with the CBE Student Code of Conduct, consequences may include suspension; the removal of a student from school, from one or more class periods, courses or education programs/activities. Principals are required to ensure these policies have been communicated to parents.
Please refer to the CBE documents below and discuss with your child at home.

Update| Away for the Day
Possession and use of personal digital devices is no longer permitted on school property during the school day
If cell phones are brought to the school, they must remain off (or silent) and completely out of view on-site for the school day*
Students who "forget" are warned the first time. The second time we collect the phone for student to pick-up from the main office at the end of the day. The third offense, the parent must pick it up and the phone is not to return to school. Repeat offenders will be sanctioned in line with our existing progressive discipline policy.
Request| Attendance
We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students  applies to all students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure compliance with this legal requirement, and the responsibility of schools to ensure that parents are informed promptly when the attendance of a student is not satisfactory.
Parents/Guardians are required to inform the office if their child is going to be absent or late. To report an absence, please call 403-777-7700 ext. 1 any time (24/7). Please state the name of your child, their homeroom and the reason for the absence, and whether the absence will be for the whole day or a portion of the day. Alternatively, you may email the office and cc your child's homeroom teacher. Taking the time to let us know that your child will be absent before school starts helps us to complete attendance accurately and reduces the number of calls that need to be made from the school office.
Our student information system, MyCBE provides parents, guardians and students with access to detailed attendance information.
Attendance records are available in Grades and Attendance or Attendance History. A legend of all the attendance codes are available at the bottom of the attendance charts. To discuss any discrepancies, please contact the school office.
Inform| Fees and Waivers
School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: http://www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers  page.
Important Dates
We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar follows common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. Our 2023-2024 school specific calendar can be found here.
Attendance/Late Arrivals
Attendance and punctuality are essential in setting up your children for long-term success and planning. Please ensure students arrive at school BEFORE 8:25 am so instruction can begin promptly at 8:30! Students may leave campus at lunch; however, we strongly encourage students to remain at the school to avoid problems in the community and coming back to school late. Our cafeteria will be open and ready for business on September 11, 2023. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. We look forward to working with you and your children for an exciting year full of learning. Should you have any questions please contact the office directly.
Go Scorpions!
