Parent Society

Parent Society

Please visit our COVID-19 page for the most up-to-date information. Our plan is subject to change throughout the school year as more information becomes available. One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

Our Parent Society is the Colonel Irvine Parent Advisory Association (CIPAA)

The Colonel Irvine Parent Advisory Association (CIPAA) is a registered group that raises funds for school-wide programs, activities, events and needs. Parent / guardians volunteers can volunteer for both school council (CISC) as well as the parent society (CIPAA).  Fundraising activities include hosting a casino approximately every two years as well as other fundraising events throughout the school year.

  • Our next Casino Fundraiser is 04/2021, as determined by AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission)

Meeting Schedule

Our meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. For the 2020/21 school year, meetings are being held virtually to adhere to public health guidelines due to COVID-19.  We are using Microsoft Teams, the CBE’s standard tool for online meetings. Both CISC & CIPAA meetings are held on the same date and follow one after each other. All parents/ guardians of Irvine students are very welcome to attend!

See our Calendar for exact dates and times.

For copies of CISC/CIPAA documentation, please contact us. Digital or paper copies are available to all Colonel Irvine parents/guardians.

Looking to volunteer?

While COVID-19 Measures are in Place

In-person visitors and volunteers will not be allowed in CBE schools at this time. This includes guest speakers, sports-team coaches and artists in residence. Individuals are encouraged to communicate with the school through email or by phone. Currently, parent volunteers are not permitted in the school building. However, we are optimistic that we will find ways to work with parent volunteers later in the school year.

Any school wide Volunteer Opportunities will be posted on a SignUp Genius link for the duration of the school year.
Please bookmark this Volunteer Opportunities Link  as we will update it with new volunteer opportunities as
they arise. You can also find this SignUp Genius link under the Get involved, Volunteer page.
