Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Parking & Drop-Off

Parking, pedestrian and traffic violations continue to be an ongoing concern for the safety of our CJFS students. The Calgary Parking Authority has visited to discuss parking violations with a number of drivers.

Please note that the school parking lot is reserved for staff only.

Places to park when dropping off your children include:

  • Whitehorn Crescent on the south side of the school
  • The parking lot in front of the community association

Also please be courteous to the homeowners who live behind the teachers’ parking lot (on the alley) by not parking in front of their garage or parking stalls.

We are placing pylons across the entrance to the parking lot to deter drivers from entering. Please note that the no U-Turn and No Stopping zones in front of the school are in effect all day. Please use the Whitehorn Community Center parking lot when picking up and dropping off your children. Remember: What your children see you do will be what they learn to do, so let’s work together to keep the children safe.

To the many parents who have concerns and to those who wish to support us in keeping our students safe, we have volunteer opportunities to address these areas of concern.  Please call the school at 403-777-6710 should you wish to be a parent safety volunteer.
