​One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school.​​ You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook​.​

About our School Council 

 Welcome to Colonel MacLeod School Council 

 As the parent(s) of a Colonel MacLeod student you are automatically part of our Council. All parents are welcome to attend any of our meetings.  Whether you decide to become part of the executive team or just want to stay up to date on what’s going on around the school, our School Council meeting is the place to get the answers.   

 Right after the School Council meeting, the Friends of Colonel Macleod, our school society, meets to discuss how we can enhance our childrens’ education through the funding of equipment and activities.  Check out our society by clicking Get Involved then click Parent Society.   

 What do we do at council? 

 ·         Support students and staff regarding the learning environment by providing input to issues of importance i.e. artists in residence, sports programs and issues affecting the whole school. 

 ·         Get updates from the principal on budget, staffing, the calendar, upcoming events and surveys. 

 ·         Plus a whole lot more! 

 Council is a great way to keep in the loop of what is happening and to meet some of the other Colonel MacLeod parents. So please come and join us, we’d love to meet you!  

 If there is something you would like discussed at the meeting but are unable to be at the meeting, you can discuss your issue/concern with either the chair or the principal beforehand and one of us can bring the issue to the School Council table.
