Every day your child will be absent or late, we do expect a call to the office before 9 am on our 24-hour absence line included above. You may call anytime of the day or night to leave a message, whenever it is most convenient for you.
Arriving on Time
Almost all of our students arrive to school on school buses. They are doing a wonderful job of disembarking, putting their back packs down and playing with friends for a little while before lining up at their designated entrance when they hear the bell. If your child does not take the bus to school, they should be dropped off between 8:55 and 9:05 am so they too can join their classmates as they enter together.
Important Information Regarding Attendance for TLC Students
As per section 7 (I) of the Education Act, it is mandatory for all students between the ages of 6 and 16 to attend school regularly and it is the parent(s)/guardian’s legal responsibility to ensure this happens.
TLC students MUST attend school for the first three days of September. If a student does not attend for the first three days, they will be withdrawn from the TLC program and replaced with someone on the callback list.
For example: If your student attends the first day, then is absent on the second day, they will be withdrawn from the TLC program and replaced with someone who is able to attend on a regular basis.
TLC students MUST attend school for a minimum of 70% of the month of September. If a student attends for less than 70% the student will be withdrawn from the TLC program. At times, depending on the reason for the absences, an Attendance Improvement Plan will be created to increase attendance.
If you are planning on traveling during the school year, a conversation must occur. The conversation needs to be with the Principal and/or the Assistant Principal. An email to the school is not considered a conversation; a conversation is a scheduled in-person meeting, a scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting, or a scheduled telephone conversation.
Please note: if you are travelling for longer than 1 month at one time, you MUST cancel your transportation fees for that month prior to your departure. Please email email@example.com or log into your MyCBE account to cancel your transportation for the months that you are away.
