One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

Thank You School Council! --------------------------------------

Colonel Sanders Staff would like to thank School Council for providing such a wonderful lunch for all staff, the variety of food was just amazing! Thank you to all families who took extra time to organize the event, shop, cook, and/or bake to make our day so special. Please look to the right so see some of the photos of what was provided.

Thank You School Council! ----------------------------------------

Colonel Sanders Staff and Students would like to thank you for funding a special event for Universal Children's Day! The Indigenous singers and dancers were a wonderful addition to the day. Staff Navigating the Digital World ---------------------------

Thank you for organizing such a wonderful learning opportunity for our families!

One of the biggest points of emphasis was:  it's not the amount of time your child is online, it is what they are doing when they are online that matters!

If you have any questions please contact School Council.

School Council Facebook Page ----------------------------------

If you have a Facebook account please join our Colonel Sanders School TLC Parent Group!

Message from Our School Council President ----------------

Hello Parents!

My name is Jill Dextrase and I am the Chairperson of our School Council. My son is Leo. He is in Grade 3 with Mr. Freeman; his Grade 2 teacher was Ms. Dawood; his Grade 1 teacher was Mrs. Gibson.

We welcome all families to attend our School Council meetings. Having family voice when advising the school provides a well rounded perspective to decision making.

Throughout a typical school year, we count on volunteers to help with fundraising initiatives, including the Casino Fundraising Event. These funds directly impact our school and our kids. In the past these funds have been used to provide the school with items like: RAZ Kids (online reading program), technology, math manipulatives, and artists in residences. For the Casino Fundraising Event a specific number of volunteers is needed.

The first meeting of the year is on Monday, September 21 from 5:00-6:15pm. Please save the date. Previously these meetings were held at the school, but for the time being they will be held online so that you can attend from home. The link to the meeting will be sent by email on the morning of Monday, September 21st.

Thank you in advance,

Jill Dextrase
