The parent society is known as Colonel Walker Community School Association (CWCSA).
CWCSA is a formal board of parent/guardian volunteers who are elected yearly, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of fundraising and operating a not-for-profit licensed childcare facility known as, Colonel Walker Programs.
Fundraising includes Biennial Casino Fundraiser, Mabel’s Labels, Skip the Depot, Winter and Spring Plant Fundraiser and Annual Kitchen Party. These funds support field trips, residencies (such as ballroom dancing, orienteering and inline skating), library & classroom books, technology (such as Smartboards), enhanced learning (such as wiggle stools, art projects and class pets), events, and teacher appreciation. CWCSA helped purchase musical instruments in 2022 to initiate a new ORFF Musical Program at Colonel Walker school!
Colonel Walker Programs operates out of the ICA Community Hall and provides before/after care, half day kindergarten program, hot lunches and Fundaze (PD days, spring break).
Meeting Dates/Schedule
As the council and society work closely together, CWCSA board members regularly attend Colonel Walker School Council meetings. CWCSA meetings often follow School Council meetings virtually on the third Tuesday of the Month or meet in person (when possible) on the third Friday of the Month.
