It is hard to believe that the month of February has come to an end. This month we focused on topics of “Love" with our Seven Sacred Teachings and the “Being Kind" with our work on Pink Shirt Day. The grade one students did a wonderful job at our assembly emphasizing friendship and how that act of kindness goes a long way. Thank you to the parents who came out to be a part of assembly.
Student Learning Conferences
Student Learning Conferences are coming up on March 9 and 10th. On Wednesday, March 1 at 6:00 pm the Conference Manager will open for parents to sign up for conferences. Conferences are set for 15 minutes time blocks and are in person at the school. This conference is an opportunity for teachers and students to share with parents their learning progress. We invite students to be a part of this conference in order to share their success and also to discuss their next steps in learning. Having students at the center of the conversation allows students to develop ownership for their learning, builds independence, increases pride in their learning as they share, identifies areas for improvement and allows students to share knowledge and skills learned. By sharing work samples and having the students, parents can build an understanding about their child's learning. Interviews will be held in person at the school on Thursday, March 9 from 4:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Friday, March 10 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Parents are instrumental in supporting their child's learning and we look forward to sharing and partnering with you in your child's learning.
Learn and Share | School Planning
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That's why we'll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.
During this engagement, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Learn About
* School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees
* How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes
* How the school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan
* School fees and why they are necessary
Participate in our School Council meeting on March 16 at 6:30 in our School Learning Common to learn more about school planning. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback at this meeting.
Share your perspectives through an online open from February 28 to March 31. Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.
Below is a link to the survey as well as a link to our School Webpage that has our School Development Plan PDF and our School Fees posted on the left-hand side. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey.
