Jack James Registration Information
As we begin the spring registration period for Grade 9s, we wanted to provide information about Jack James High School, as a school of choice, regarding supports and opportunities we can provide for students in the CBE. We are hoping this information will be valuable to staff, students and families as discussions regarding the transition to high school is occurring.
Jack James offers both K&E and Diploma academics at the -2 level with a wide variety of shop based experiences – from Commercial Cooking to Autobody, and Horticulture to Animation/Web Design as well as access to some shops at Forest Lawn. Jack James is able to complete the Certificate of Achievement on site with a programmed workplace practicum program, which is especially valuable in this current climate where jobs are difficult to find. Students can also complete a Diploma program at Jack James.
As we are a small high school, many students feel more comfortable and supported here than in the larger populations and buildings. This also gives us an opportunity to meet each of students where they are in terms of their learning and support them in moving forward. Students have the opportunity to explore their interests through the shops and gain the experience in the area while working through the academics required to move into supporting post-secondary programs and apprenticeship opportunities.
Included is a short video for you to please share with your Grade 9 staff and transition teams so that they can support your families in making a decision regarding their students’ best opportunity for success in high school.
We have also attached a flat sheet and with more information which can be given to staff and to families.
If you feel you have students who would benefit from joining our school community, please contact our guidance team for more information, access to our virtual presentation and registration information.
