COVID-19 Notices

March 21, 2021

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

Central Memorial High School has been placed on Outbreak Status on the Provincial COVID-19 Status Map.   Due to a significant number of cases in a short time frame and the operational capacity challenges that have been created, Central Memorial and the CTC will transition all grades and classes, except CSSI, TASC and Bridges IV (Flex) to online instruction beginning Monday, March 22 until Friday, March 26.   Students in William Roper Hull classes and our Wood’s Homes class will still be able to attend in person this week.  The school is well positioned to support students through at home learning this period of time that they will be online.

All grades will return to in person instruction following Spring Break on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

Continuity of Learning for All Students

All students will be supported in maintaining course work during the designated period through Brightspace D2L, Virtual Classroom and/or Google Meet. Students will not join Hub online learning.

All students are expected to continue to engage in their course work and to communicate with their teachers during this time.  In supporting students, we will follow our regular bell schedule virtually. Teachers will be connecting with each of their classes to provide online instructional support. Some teachers may record lessons or offer additional tutorial times. No exams will be required to be completed online during this time and all assessments will be conducted when students return to school.

If students are feeling anxious, have academic concerns about their learning, or need additional supports, please know that Student Services and our Resource Centre are available to assist you. Please contact the main office (403-243-8880 ext. 0) for assistance in connecting to these supports.

For students who need access to technology, please connect with the main office.  (403–243-8880 ext. 0).

COVID-19 Precautions

The school has completed the process of contacting each family affected by the positive cases, and AHS will be following up only with those individuals.

If your child has any of the symptoms of illness listed on the Alberta Health daily checklist, please complete the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we take these additional measures to continue to support student learning.

Central Memorial and CTC gabaldwin@cbe.ab.ca

Notice:  Central Memorial is now on Alert Status

When a school moves to Alert, AHS provides an EI number (case #). This EI # does not provide speedier access to testing; however, it currently ensures testing availability and it serves to ‘link’ potential transmission cases together. When booking a test online, the registrant provides the school specific number. The school number is 2021-EI-2791.  Please make this number available to your community when you post the AHS alert notification.

Full information on this classification process is available at https://www.alberta.ca/schools/covid-19-school-status-map.htm
