Gracias y Adios!

The 2021-22 school year was marked with waves of COVID.  In this second year, we learned to live with it differently as it has become part of our new normal.  As always, our students and families showed great resilience to adjust to the ongoing changes.  Cohorts were slowly reintegrating, masks came off for some and certain activities were renewed.  Students could use recess equipment again and we were able to have our Alien Inline skating residency again.  While we didn't have as many online classes as last year, there was a need to pivot and rearrange on short notice.  While change is hard, our students adjusted and learned new heights of resiliency.

As always, our teaching staff was stellar and went with anything that came up, often on short notice.  With an extreme staffing shortage, classes were rearranged when needed and all of our students were taken care of.  Teachers recognized that importance of coming to school every day and the routine and structure it provided students, which was very much needed.  Our support staff were also very flexible in looking out for our students' best interests.  It would be important to note the extra efforts from our facility operator team who continue to provide ongoing sanitization in addition to their regular duties.

Another strong pillar of our community is our families.  Support of students, staff and our learning community has been unfaltering through acts of kindness and support.  Our Dalhousie Parent Society has a small core of volunteers who work tirelessly on behalf of everyone, fundraising for various initiatives, most notably the playground.  The smiles that we get from parents everyday shows us the support that we have.

As time goes on, it only becomes more obvious how strong the Dalhousie learning community is with all of our staff, families and students.   We are here for each other and raise spirits when needed.    On behalf of all of the Dalhousie staff, we wish all of our families' health and happiness.
