Attendance

Attendance Line: 403-777-7470 or email davidthompson@cbe.ab.ca

Attendance at school correlates directly to achievement at school. Please note that students who are often late not only miss the instruction that occurs at the beginning of class but also disrupt the learning of their classmates as they enter the room, take their seats and get settled in.

If you know that your child will be late or absent, please call our attendance line at 403-777-7470 and press 1 to leave a message or access the school’s email address, davidthompson@cbe.ab.ca  Please indicate the name and grade of student, as well as reason for the late or absence. Please note that ‘sleeping in’ is not an excusable reason for being late. Students arriving late must enter through the main front doors and sign in at the Main Office. Should lates and/or absences become a concern, the school will follow up with parents/guardians in accordance with CBE Administrative Regulations.

Leave of Absence / Family Vacation

Absences from school can create significant gaps in learning so it is important to schedule family holidays on non-instructional days. Notification of any extended absence from school should be given to the office as early as possible prior to the absence. Absences longer than 4 days require and extended leave form to be completed. Students are responsible for all assignments and tests missed during any absence. Please note that the school is not required to supply an educational package for a student when they are on extended leaves due to family vacations.

Early Dismissal-Student or Parent Request

Students that may be required to leave school before regular dismissal time must bring a dated and signed note. Students should show this note to the appropriate subject teacher but must then report to the office prior to leaving the school.
Parents are required to come into the school office to sign their child out of school when leaving early.
