Fundraising Priority
Our Parent Society works in partnership with School Council, school staff, and students to identify ways to support and enhance learning experiences at David Thompson School. Some of our recent fundraising has focused on making improvements like:
- Creating collaborative spaces in the Learning Commons
- Updating technology in classrooms
- Improving performing arts spaces
Outdoor Indigenous Learning Space - Donations
David Thompson School would like to design and install an outdoor Indigenous learning space. The garden will be a place of gathering for students, staff, and community members to come together, learn about Indigenous plants and traditions, reflect, and relax. This area will be designed as a circle to promote sharing.
The garden will be used as part of regular school and extra-curricular programming. The final design will be done in consultation with students, teachers, local Elders, parents and other community members, and Calgary Board of Education’s Indigenous Education department and facilities team.
We hope to have the Indigenous Garden ready for use by September 2023.

Spring BBQ Season Fundraiser Sale (April 15, 2022 - May 3, 2022)
Tis the season to stock up on some Beef, Pork, Chicken or Shrimp for the up-and-coming Barbeque Season and what better time to arrive then just before the May Long Weekend!
All proceeds will be split between the David Thompson Middle School Parent Society and the Band Society.
Who, What, When, and How?
Starting Friday April 15, you can log into the Healthy Hunger page and place your order (Please see the PDF attached in the resource section). The order will be open until May 3rd at midnight. Pick up will be at David Thompson School on Wednesday May 18th. Further details to follow.
We have also put in the Healthy Hunger page the option to donate $10.00 dollars to continue to help raise money for the outdoor learning space. This money goes 100% to the Parent Society to help the school facilitate these upgrades. If you are not interested in the Pre-Pack items, you are still able to donate to the cause. You just need to login and select this option.
Healthy Hunger has now set up the option for us to be able to send our fundraising link out to family and friends via email or via Facebook. This allows them to login and place an order and pay via Visa or MasterCard, so you do not have to collect cash any longer. Please note that the products ordered will be assigned to your child’s name so on the day of pick up, you will be picking up those orders as well and will need to look after the delivery of them.
We have also attached the directions on how to add your child to your healthy hunger account as this needs to be done every year even if you had a previous healthy hunger account, as well as the directions as to how to send out the fundraising link to family and friends. (Please see the PDF attached in the resource section)
If you have any questions for concerns, please feel free to email Rhonda at manningr@telus.net
