Bacon Fundraiser
UPDATE FEBRUARY 26, 2021
Bacon Fundraiser
Thanks to all those families who have supported our bacon fundraiser. We sold 179 boxes of Bacon and received $510.00 in straight donations creating a $1686.00 profit that can be used by the school to upgrade the Learning Commons area.
We are so grateful for everyone’s support.
The bacon will be arriving on March 2nd. We will be handing it out in the teachers’ parking lot at 2:40 once all the school buses have moved out. There will be a station for drive up and pick up. We ask that you drive in and follow the vehicle in front of you and we will provide you will the correct amount of bacon ordered under your child’s name. You will then continue the loop through the parking lot and will be able to exit. This will provide a nice flow and will expedite the process.
Please reference the attached map. Pick up station will be where the red X is on the map. We ask that you do not park and walk over as we want this to be as COVID friendly as possible.

We ask that you please arrange for someone to pick this up if you are unable to attend as we do not have storage in which to keep this fresh bacon. If, for some reason this date does not work for you, can you please email DTSPSsecretary@gmail.com or DTSPStreasurer@gmail.com and we will try to figure something out with you.
"Learning Commons initiative"
“A learning commons is a whole school approach to building a participatory learning community. The library learning commons is the physical and virtual collaborative learning hub of the school. It is designed to engineer and drive future-oriented learning and teaching throughout the entire school. Inquiry, project/problem-based learning experiences are designed as catalysts for intellectual engagement with information, ideas, thinking, and dialogue. Reading thrives, learning literacies and technology competencies evolve, and critical thinking, creativity, innovation and playing to learn are nourished. Everyone is a learner; everyone is a teacher working collaboratively toward excellence. (https://llsop.canadianschoollibraries.ca/library-learning-commons/)
In updating our current learning commons, we are endeavoring to enhance the use of the space as a collaborative hub where students can share, explore and inquire. Further, we would like to create further flexibility in seating to address the diverse needs of students. Fundraising dollars would be used to purchase items such as:
- moveable whiteboard tables
- seating that can be reconfigured/rearranged based on learning task
- wobble stools
- ball chairs
As we make adjustments to our learning commons, we hope to create collaborative hubs spilling out into other shared spaces around the school to create further flexibility.
