One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Actfor the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

Parent Society

Fundraising Priority

Our Parent Society works in partnership with School Council, school staff, and students to identify ways to support and enhance learning experiences at David Thompson School. Some of our recent fundraising has focused on making improvements like:

  • Creating collaborative spaces in the Learning Commons
  • Updating technology in classrooms
  • Improving performing arts spaces

Meeting Schedule

We invite all parents and caregivers to join us in conversations about how to raise funds, and how to spend them in support of the school community. Our meetings are held immediately after School Council meetings.

For meeting dates, refer back to the School Council page.

For agendas and minutes, check out the Resources section.
