Registration information

Monday, August 8 – Thursday, August 10                 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Monday, August 14 - Thursday, August 17                9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Monday, August 21 – Thursday, August 24               9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Regular Office Hours resume on Monday, August 28, 2023.

The administration will be available August 23, 2023. 

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes is scheduled for August 31st, 2023. We will be having a staggered entry as follows:

Grade 10 Students - Arrive at school at 8:55 AM and participate in Orientation Day Activities until 12:15 PM. When students arrive at school, they will proceed to the main gym for our Welcoming Assembly. After which, all students will participate in a mini-timetable where they will meet their teachers and see their classrooms.

Grade 11 Students – Arrive at School at 1:10 PM and proceed directly to their period one class. All students will participate in a mini-timetable from 1:15 to 2:50, where they will meet their teachers and see their classrooms. After the mini-timetable, grade 11 students will attend their Welcoming Assembly in the main gym and will be dismissed at 3:30 PM.

Grade 12 Students – Arrive at school at 12:35 and proceed directly to the main gym for their Welcoming Assembly. After the assembly, all students will participate in a mini-timetable from 1:15 to 2:50, where they will meet their teachers and see their classrooms. Grade 12 students will be dismissed at 2:50.

  • Calgary Transit express buses will drop students off at the school in the morning (8:50 AM) and pick up students at the end of the day (3:30 PM).
    • Grade 10 students will not have access to Calgary Transit express buses at the end of their Orientation Day Activities
    • Grade 11 and 12 students will not have access to Calgary Transit express buses to arrive at school at 12:35 PM or 1:10 PM.
  • Our regular bell schedule begins on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Our 2023-2024 Bell Schedule is posted as on attachment on the right hand side of this page and on the Contact Us page.

Please note that there have been minor adjustments made to the bell schedule as compared to 2023-2024. The start and end times on Monday through Thursday remain unchanged. 

School Supplies

Please bring your own basic school supplies, such as pens, pencils, and binders with paper. Your teachers will let you know if additional supplies are required.

Transportation

Information regarding transportation to and from Dr. E.P. Scarlett can be found on the Calgary Transit homepage. Click on “Service Updates” and then on the right hand side, click on “School Express Routes”.

In order to ride on a Calgary Transit express bus to school and back home, students are required to purchase a regular youth monthly bus pass or a regular bus ticket. Lockers

Students that are wishing to have a locker for the 2023-2024 school year need to fill out the online Locker Request Form. The school will issue locker locations and locker combinations to the email that is used to complete the form.

Timetable Changes

At this time, requests for changes to the 2023/2024 student timetables are to be made through the following course request change form. PLEASE READ ALL THE POINTS VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE FILLING OUT THE FORM. It is important to note that this form will be activate from August 13th to August 28th at 11:59 PM.

Course Change Form

Course change requests will be limited to the following needs:

  • Completion of a summer course or an online course (if students have completed an online course outside of the CBE, students must email a copy of their report card to their counsellor)
  • Addition of a course to meet high school diploma requirements and/or certificate requirements
  • Needing a change in a level of a course (20-1 to 20-2; Physics 30 to Sci 30)
  • Lacking a prerequisite for a scheduled course

Note: We cannot accommodate requests for specific teachers, courses in particular periods or semesters. Also, some Grade 10 students may now have their fourth or fifth option choice if one of their top 3 could not be scheduled. No course changes requests will be accepted through email.

Student Parking

Student Parking at Dr. E.P. Scarlett is limited. Students wishing to drive to school and park in the school lot need to apply for a parking pass. Should the number of applicants exceed the number of available spaces in the parking lot, a lottery will be used. Students wishing to apply for a parking pass need to fill out the 2023-2024 Parking Pass Application (See right hand side of page for application) and drop it off at the Main Office by the end of the day on September 8, 2023. 

Textbooks

Textbooks will be available during the first few days of classes. Students will be taken down to the Learning Commons during their classes to pick up text books. Please note that students will require their Student Identification to sign out text books and students that have outstanding fees or books from previous school years may not be able to sign out text books.

Annual Authorization to Try Out Form

School Photos/ID Cards

Our photography partners at Lifetouch will be at Dr. E.P. Scarlett during late August to provide school photos and ID cards to students. The schedule of days for photography is as follows:

  • Grade 10 Students – Wednesday, August 23rd, 9 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Grade 11 & 12 Students – Thursday, August 24th, 9 AM to 3:30 PM
  • All Remaining Students Still Needing Photos/ ID – Monday, August 28th, 9 AM to 3:30 PM

For students that are unavailable to come into the school during these dates, Lifetouch returns to Dr. E.P. Scarlett on September 6th, 2023, to take photos again.

​​​​​​Do You Have a MyCBE Account? Have You Added Your Child(ren) To the Account?

Parents / Legal Guardians / Independent Students who have not already done so, must create a MyCBE account and add their child(ren) to the account to:

  • access your child’s program information (e.g., course assessments, daily attendance record, report card)
  • view your child’s learning using Brightspace by D2L
  • pay fees and request waivers
  • register for transportation and lunch ​supervision
  • book parent-teacher conferences
  • submit online school forms (required for 2023-24 school year)

You will need your email address on file at the school as well as your child’s CBE ID, which can be found on the:

  • SchoolEngage student profile, for families that registered their child using SchoolEngage.

Subscribe to School Messages

Most school messages are sent to parents through SchoolMessenger. It’s a mass communication tool that allows schools to easily and securely send email, phone and text messages to parents / guardians, independent students in a particular grade, class, school or area. Messages are sent to the parent contacts on file at your school.​​

To ensure you receive important information from your child’s school and the Calgary Board of Education, subscribe to school messages.​

​​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
