Graduation will be on June 24 and 25! Make sure you check the In-Person Graduation announcement below for the schedule.

Once you get your grad gowns and v-stoles, iron and hang them up on a hanger all ready to go for your grad. On the day of your grad, you will arrive in your gowns to school. Enter the school on the east side by room 106. Teachers will greet you and guide you on as you step into grad mode. This is all very exciting!

Due to current Covid Protocols, only students and staff can enter the building but your grad will be live-streaming for your family, friends and all loved ones to watch! We all know how special this day is for you and have gone to great lengths to keep you safe while also celebrating this important milestone. All of your teachers will be in the school celebrating each step as you walk the halls, collect your tassel and souvenirs, smile for the camera and listen to speeches.

After the ceremonies, you will exit the school, you will find some decorations at the front of the school. This Grad Celebration Area will be perfect for you to take pictures and make memories to carry with you always. This will be your day.

In the next few days we will continue to update you here and on D2L and answer your questions.

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2021:

As we prepare to enter the second semester of this school year, I want to provide an update regarding Graduation 2021.  At this time, CBE high schools are not planning traditional graduations that involve large public gatherings.

As a result, senior high school principals have considered a number of options to mark this important achievement.  For all high schools in the Calgary Board of Education, the following decisions have been made about Graduation 2021:

§  There will be no formal banquets or dances.

§  Any ceremonies will take place in our own schools.

  • Details will be worked out over the coming months.
  • Any activities will follow all Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and Calgary Board of Education health and safety guidelines that may be in place at that time.

It is disappointing that we are unable to provide a more typical graduation experience again this year.  Please know that we are immensely proud of the accomplishments and the resilience that the Class of 2021 has demonstrated in graduating under such challenging circumstances.

Please also know that I have spoken with a number of Grade 12 students this month regarding what Grad 2021 may look like, and our Graduation Committee will be developing plans to honour our exceptional students to the best of our ability.  We plan to host and celebrate our Class of 2021 at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School in gowns and hopefully in the presence of a limited number of loved ones (consistent with the applicable guidelines in place at the time), so that we can honour them appropriately as they ‘cross the stage’.

To that end, Grade 12 students will be assigned a $40 Graduation Fee in PowerSchool that will cover the costs of the rental and cleaning of the graduation gown and V-stole, tassel, graduation souvenirs, Life Touch graduation photograph, DEPS certificate and cover, legacy gift to the school and graduation décor in the school.

As soon as we have additional details about Graduation 2021, we will share them with all students and families.  Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Shari Goodfellow

Principal
