Illness & Medical

It is important that you call the school if your child is absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-6190 ext. 1. See more on our Attendance page.

Student Illness

From time to time students become ill at school. If it is minor illness, a students can rest in the nurse’s room for a brief period of time until it is determined that he/she is able to go back to class or should go home to recover. When a student is very ill or injured, parents will be contacted immediately. Please keep your home and work telephone numbers current so that we can contact you easily.

Students with Allergies, Medical Conditions and Health Concerns

Several of our students have severe allergies and special health concerns. It is important that parents complete the CBE’s Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form so that we are completely aware of any and all health issues. Students who are on any special medication that must be administered during the school day require the parent to complete and sign a CBE form Student Health Plan. The school will not give any student in the school any medication without this form completed and signed by the parent. This includes meds like the Epi-pen and Tylenol or Benadryl.

Students who require epi-pens and/or inhalers are asked to keep them in a location agreed upon by school administration and staff and identified in the Student Health Plan. In some cases medication needs to be kept with the student and others may keep medications in the office. In all cases, medications should be clearly labeled with the children’s name and room number

Many of our students have severe food allergies, especially nut products.  We are a nut aware school and encourage all parents to avoid snacks or lunch items that contain nut products.  Students can have a severe allergic reaction not only from ingesting the allergen that they cannot tolerate but from touching objects that may have the allergen left on it, i.e. peanut butter left on a door knob etc.
