We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.


The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.  

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.​​

Back to School Information

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes is Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 and the school office is open to parents on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020 at 8:30 AM.

School Start and End Times

Our bell times are: Monday-Thursday – 8:40 AM to 12 PM and 12:55 PM  to 3:30 PM
Friday – 8:40 AM to 12:15 PM 
Kindergarten: Monday-Friday – 8:40 AM to 11:20 AM

School supplies will be purchased and distributed by the school.

Noon Supervision

Our school’s noon supervision program begins on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020. Students in Grades 1-6 who stay for lunch at school, need to register for noon supervision. You can register your child through MyCBE / PowerSchool.

Assigned Teachers

Students who are currently registered at Dr. E. W. Coffin School can look forward to a welcome email from their assigned teacher on Monday August 31, 2020. Our teaching staff for the 2020-2021 school year will be: 

Kindergarten-Mrs. Sarah Stilborn/Mrs. Lisa Wilkens, 

Grade 1/2 - Mrs. Hamby and Mrs. Boyer

Grade 2/3 - Mrs. Armour 

Grade 3/4 – Ms. Jones and Ms. Cowdy

Grade 5/6- Mr. Pedenko and Mrs. Saunders

Kindergarten

Kindergarten classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 with a staggered entry. Pre-registered students have been notified of their staggered entry date. All kindergarten students will be together beginning Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020. Please meet your teacher at the Southwest, kindergarten entrance door.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
