Security

School Access

The office is open Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 4:30 and Fridays 8:30 to 3:30 pm. All visitors must enter through the front doors and sign in at the office.

Outdoor Supervision

We provide outdoor supervision from 9:00 to 9:10 am daily, and at lunch from 12:00 to 12:45 am for students who stay for lunch. There is no after-school supervision. Children are expected to go straight home or be with their parents if they are staying on the playground.

Parent, Visitors, and Volunteer Sign-in & Sign-out

All parents, visitors and volunteers must report directly to the office and receive a visitor card before proceeding to other areas of the school. This is an additional security measure to keep our school safe. Please note that, under no circumstances, can a visitor (including parents) go to the classrooms without checking-in to the office first.

​Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
 

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.​​
