Attendance Line: 403-817-3556 ext. 1
It is important that you contact the school if your child is absent or arriving late.
Please contact us before school starts. Look in our contact page for School Hours.
School Messages
Attendance is taken twice daily; once in the morning and once after lunch. Late and absent students will be reported to parents/guardians through our school messaging service.
Lateness and Absenteeism
Lateness and absenteeism are related to the student behaviour and academic expectations in our Code of Conduct. Students must comply with the School Act. Two of the five elements pertain to lateness and absenteeism, specifically: “Being diligent in pursuing their studies” and “Attending school regularly and punctually.” In short, attending school regularly and on-time is the law and can significantly impacts learning and social growth.
Dr. George Stanley School takes attendance seriously and we have implemented the following measures:
- If a rate of 15% absenteeism is reached, parents will be contacted by classroom teacher to explore any issues or concerns
- If absenteeism persists, an Attendance Improvement Plan will be initiated by the classroom teacher and school administration
- If this does not rectify the issue, a meeting with the school’s administration will be held
- If these measures don’t improve the situation, a hearing with the attendance board will be arranged
