First Day of Classes

Important Information for the First Days of School

The Main Office Re-Opens on Monday August 29, 2022 at 9:00am.Classroom and teacher assignments will be finalized and sent to families on Monday August 29, 2022.

  • Bus Service starts on Thursday September 1, 2022 for registered students
  • The first day of classes for Grade 6 students is Thursday September 1. This will be a full day of school for Grade 6 students. No school for students in Grades 7-9.
  • The first day of classes for Grade 7-9 students is Friday September 2. This is a half day of classes for students.  No school for students in Grade 6.
  • All students attend together starting Tuesday September 6.

Soft Entry: Doors are open for students each day at 8:00 am. Supervision is provided in classrooms. This time is intended for students to settle into their classrooms prior to the start of classes. 

School Start Time: 8:30am M-F

School End Time: 2:55pm M-T, 11:55 am F



  • Grade 6 and 7 students enter through the Main Doors of the school
  • Grade 8 and 9 students enter through the student doors closest to the staff parking lot

Closed Campus: Dr. George Stanley School will remain a CLOSED campus at lunchtime. Students will be able to purchase food from the canteen and Healthy Hunger deliveries will be available. Students who walk home for lunch must do so consistently, leave campus as soon as their lunch hour starts, return no more than 5 minutes before the start of afternoon classes and must sign in and out of the main office daily.

Exploratories: Exploratory courses will begin the week of September 12, 2022. This will allow for final adjustments to student numbers in Grades 7-9.

Extra-curricular Activities: Extra-curricular activities begin with Cross-Country, Soccer and Volleyball in September 2022. Please check the website in September for full InterSchool Athletics information.

Cell Phones: We will continue with our “Away for the Day” Cell Phone plan for the 2022-2023 School Year. All students phones will be put away in lockers 8:30am and will be retrieved at 2:55 pm. If you need to contact your child during the day, please phone the school at 403 817 3556.

School Supplies:

o    All supplies are provided for students in K-6.

o    A detailed school supply list will be sent home with students in Grades 7-9  

o    All students need personal items such as backpacks, lunch kits, water bottles, sunscreen and bug spray

o    We do not require indoor shoes

  • (No afternoon classes)

​​​​Do You Have a MyCBE Account? Have You Added Your Child(ren) To the Account?

Parents / Legal Guardians / Independent Students who have not already done so, must create a MyCBE account and add their child(ren) to the account to:

  • access your child’s program information (e.g., course assessments, daily attendance record, report card)
  • view your child’s learning using Brightspace by D2L
  • pay fees and request waivers
  • register for transportation and lunch ​supervision
  • book parent-teacher conferences
  • submit online school forms (required for 2022-23 school year)

You will need your email address on file at the school as well as your child’s CBE ID, which can be found on the:

  • SchoolEngage student profile, for families that registered their child using SchoolEngage.

​​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

​​​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2022-23 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
