Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Learning Commons / Library

Our Learning Commons

Is the hub for our school learning community. It is for available to all students and is for research, reading and quiet study.

Hours

The Learning Commons is open during school hours. Ms. Bahad is available to support teachers and students during office hours. When Ms. Bahad is not available the Learning Commons is open for focused independent studying time.

Technology

Students have access to computers inside of our Learning Commons. Please see Ms. Bahad if you want to use these without your teacher present.

Borrowing Rules

You need to have your student card or student ID number to check out items from the library.

Students are assigned textbooks in September. Library books may be borrowed. Their loss, however, affects the school’s ability to provide programming to students. Please take good care of them, as you will be assessed costs for any damage or loss.

About Learning Commons

A learning commons is a whole school approach to building a participatory learning community. The library learning commons is the physical and virtual collaborative learning hub of the school. It is designed to engineer and drive future-oriented learning and teaching throughout the entire school.

Why Have a Learning Commons?

To facilitate “learning centered” focused work. We need a flexible space to collaborate, personalize, innovate, share and create. The Learning Commons is the hub.
