Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) are digitally-based provincial assessment tools for Grade 3 that enable both parents and teachers to identify student strengths and areas of growth at the start of the school year. This assessment focuses on "literacy and numeracy". Visit the CBE website for more information on provincial testing.

SLAs are meant to complement, not replace, day-to-day teacher observations and classroom assessment.

Student Learning Assessments

Due to the disruption to traditional learning or students not being well enough to write PAT’s, students at Dr. Gordon Townsend School typically do not write PAT’s. If parents wish their child to write PAT’s or SLA’s we will work with their community school to arrange this.
