Attendance Line at 403-777-6640 ext. 1.
It is important that you call the school if your child is absent or arriving late.
Illness
If your child is ill, please keep them at home until they are well enough to participate in all school activities. If your child becomes ill during the school day, we will contact you and you will be expected to arrange for your child to be picked up as soon as possible.
Accidents and Injuries
In the event of an accident, several courses of action may be taken depending upon the seriousness of the incident.
- Scrapes and scratches, or any injury that can be treated with ice and cleaning with soap and water and a band-aid will be dealt with at the school.
- In the case of sprains, severe cuts, or contusions, or head injuries, home will be notified immediately to decide what actions should be taken.
- In the case of open and or heavily bleeding wounds, broken bones, unconsciousness, etc. the school will call an ambulance and parents immediately.
- Accident insurance is provided upon request and forms are sent home in September.
Allergies
If your child has an allergy (mild, moderate or severe) please ensure you share this information with the office and the teacher, so that we are able to make an individual health plan for your child. If there is a student with an anaphylactic allergy in your child's class, you will have received a letter from the school describing this allergy. If you receive such a letter, please be considerate about what foods you send to school with your child. Although students are permitted to bring any food to school (we do not have any banned foods, including nut products), we would respectfully ask you to consider finding alternative foods to send, should there be a student with a severe food allergy in your child's class.
Additionally, we do not allow sharing of food between students, and do not allow parents to send or bring in food to share with the students. If a teacher plans a food-related learning activity, parents will receive a notice describing the activity and the ingredients being used. Parents can have their child opt out of these activities if they choose to do so.
If a student has an epi-pen, please ensure the teacher and office knows about this, so that we can add it to the emergency health plan.
Medical Conditions
If your child has a medical condition (i.e. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.) please inform the office and your child's teacher. We will create a Student Health Plan and/or Emergency Health Plan to keep on file at the office and with the teacher/staff.
