At Dr. Martha Cohen we have embraced Alberta Education’s vision and mandate around Career and Technology Foundations (CTF). We believe that middle school students should all have a variety of experiences to draw upon as they grow and develop. Each student will work through a number of modules with CTF teachers throughout the year developing skills that can be built upon year after year. CTF is every day for all grades 5 through 9, exposing them to a large variety of opportunities.

CTF Opportunities

Due to the need to cohort classes, students will be participating in CTF modules within their homerooms. Students will have the opportunity to experience learning activities that will build both fine arts and career skills. Students will also participate in activities in the Construction, Fashion studies and Music rooms using professional level tools and equipment.

Activities and career pathways that students may explore include:

  • Fine Arts
  • Business and Marketing
  • Computer Technology
  • Construction
  • Design
  • Fashion
  • Music and Music Production
  • Outdoor Education and Recreation Leadership
  • And more!

Every year many CBE schools participate in a Terry Fox Run. In 2020, our schools raised an incredible $163,886.64 for cancer research. Thank you to all of our students, staff and school communities who have kept Terry’s dream alive 40 years after his journey began! #WeAreCBE

RT @UsihChristopher: We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make this learning shift for next week. While it is yet another significant change, we hope that it will serve to reduce the current learning disruptions that are continuing to occur in our schools.

Starting Monday, April 19 students in Grades 7-12 will transition to at-home learning for at least two weeks. #yycbe #WeAreCBE

RT @DalhousieCBE: Social distancing requirements hampering reading buddies? No problem! Our @DalhousieCBE Gr 4/5 HUB students recorded read alouds for younger students to listen to. Authentic audience and sense of ownership and pride! #SomosDalhousie #WeAreCBE @yycbedu @CBElanguages

Each year Alberta Education sends an important survey to parents/guardians of students in Grades 4, 7 and 10. The results are used to assess satisfaction with the quality of education & we use the information to improve teaching and learning. #yycbe
