Grade 9

Welcome to the 2021-2022 Grade 9 webpage

Important grade 9 information will be posted on this page. This includes teacher contacts, high school registration information, and weekly updates for core classes (what we will be doing, homework, and tests).

Farewell Information

We are approaching 3 weeks before Grade 9 Farewell takes place! It is a very exciting time for all of us at DMCS, especially the grade 9 team and the Leadership Team. We understand that everyone wants to be a part of the action during the distinguished 2021-2022 ceremony and as such everyone is desperate for information. Here is an update:

Students have selected the theme: Red Carpet, for this year’s farewell. This was done via brainstorming 5 different themes. All grade 9 classes then voted for their favorite one, with Red Carpet taking a majority of the vote (43%).

This year’s event will be focused on student-led initiatives. Grade 9 Leadership has collectively raised over $1700 in fundraising over the course of this year with our excellent candy gram campaigns, etc, with Parent Council’s initiatives also contributing much more! Using these funds the students have budgeted for: food, entertainment, décor, and miscellaneous items. Students have learned to research for the best deals on pizza, the healthiest and most cost-effective party beverages, and the best deals on décor. They have contacted suppliers and set in motion deals for everything they will need to make this party work. Leveraging their contacts within the community, students have even been able to find and hire an excellent DJ with all of the bells and whistles.
