School Opening Ceremony - April 7, 2017

We celebrated the official opening of our new school on April 7, 2017. In addition to hearing words of congratulations from special guests, we showcased the school and its students.

The wonderful thing about the opening ceremony was that every student had an integral part. The student showcases were embedded in the curriculum and embraced not only our inquiry question of “How do we build and connect our story?”, but also embody our motto of “Inquire, Innovate, Inspire…Imagine” 

Through the story, the students told of our school’s inception, its namesake, its building and its promise. The honouring of O Canada, the Acknowledgement of the Land, the speakers, the videos and the lyrics of the music, were connected within the story.

The story began…

“We all belong to the land and the land is a part of all of us. By
acknowledging the water, the wind, the mountains and all the beauty
here before us, our past, present and future become a little clearer.”
