Attendance & Absence

If your child is going to be away due to illness, appointments and/or for extended periods of time, please contact the school at 403-777-6980 to report your child's absence(s). If your child is absent and we have not heard from you, we are required to contact you to determine your child's whereabouts. If you are calling outside normal school hours, please leave a voice message including the following details:

  • Child’s Name
  • Reason for Absence (e.g., illness, medical appointment, etc.)
  • Day(s) that your child will be absent from school

Late Arrival & Early Pick-Up

If your child will be arriving late after 9:00 AM and/or picking them up prior to regular dismissal, please contact the school at 403-777-6980 or check in at the main office to advise us. This information gives us accurate information regarding student attendance and may assist us in the event of an emergency.

Changes to Bus Schedules (very important!)

Ensure that you notify both your child's teacher and the bus company if you have made any alternate transportation plans on any given day.  Please indicate these changes in writing in your child's agenda and call your driver to cancel the bus. This also applies if your child is ill for the day and the bus is not required to pick your child up.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students regulation applies to all of our students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
