Busing

Registering for 2020-21 Busing/Transportation

It is important that Parents/Guardians register their child for 2020-21 Busing/Transportation as soon as possible. This allows CBE Transportation to include your child's registration into the planning process for bus routes and scheduling. We encourage you to register for Specialized Busing/Transportation online using your MyCBE/PowerSchool Parent Account

For more information, please visit the CBE's Busing & Transportation webpage. You may also wish to review the CBE 2020-21 Special Transportation Student Manual.

Four Seasons provides door-to-door transportation to the school. Parent requests can be made to the Calgary Board of Education's Transportation department to have an Attendant, Health Care Aide (HCA) or, in rare cases, there may be an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support medical needs.

There are no busing fees for our school.

The Transportation Department strives to ensure that student ride times do not exceed 2 hours daily. The actual length of the bus ride varies depending on  location of family residence and the number and order of students on the bus
route.

Changes to Bus Schedules

If you are aware that your child will not be taking the bus on any given day, please ensure that you notify both your child's teacher and the bus company if you have made any alternate transportation plans.  Please indicate these changes in writing in your child's agenda and call/text your bus driver to cancel the bus. This also applies if your child is ill for the day and the bus is not required to pick your child up.

Bus Route Changes

It is very important that you notify the school as soon as possible of any changes that may effect your child's bus route, including:

  • change of residential addresses
  • alternate addresses and/or schedules (eg. daycare, secondary residence, etc)
  • temporary respite stays where the child is still attending school but requires daily pick up/drop off (eg. Haysboro House)

NOTE: Advanced notice of any changes is required as it may take 2-4 weeks before changes go into effect. Emily Follensbee School is unable to accommodate any immediate and/or short-notice requests as all changes must be received and submitted for processing with the CBE and busing service provider.

School Bus Safety at the CBE

School bus loading zones provide a safe area for students to embark and disembark the buses. Please do not drive into the school bus loading zone when you pick up or drop off your child.

Help teach your child to safely cross the street around school buses. Children should:

  • Stand back a safe distance from the bus

  • Wait until the bus leaves the stop

  • Walk to the closest intersection

  • Cross the street only when they have a clear view of traffic in both directions and it is safe to do so

The CBE and school bus carriers want to ensure your child's safety and make their experience on the bus a positive one.
