March & April 2023
We hope Spring is on its way! We had a wonderful couple of cold wintery months and now we are looking forward to Spring. For March and April we will be focusing on signs of Spring, quantity, and continuing to work on our letter recognition.
We our going to be focusing some of our learning around the books, The Great Graph Contest and Anywhere Artist. These books will help us learn about quantity, graphing, and comparing, while answering different questions such as, "which grew more- vegetable seeds or flower seeds? Are more rocks rough or smooth? Who's foot is the longest?" and help us use different items found in nature to create our art for the spring and summer. We look forward to getting outside and searching for items to help us work through both books.
Our class has also challenged Diana's class to a catapult art competition using class made catapults to paint and colour with. We will be showing off our creations just before Spring Break. We look forward to another couple of months of fun engaging activities.
January & February 2023
Welcome back everyone! We hope you and your loved ones had a restful Winter Break. As we come to the end of January, we will focus on our winter story “The Mitten”. In February, our class will be learning about kindness, friendship, and feelings. We will be mixing in our numeracy and literacy tasks with these themes. I look forward to speaking with parents at the beginning of February for conferences as well.
November & December 2022
Hello parents! It has been a busy few weeks getting back into a routine with the students but it has been fantastic getting to work with each of them again. We have been focusing on all things relating to the fall season since my return and look forward to learning about Remembrance Day and the winter season in the upcoming months. We will be incorporating mathematical concepts into our learning and introducing the students to surveys, graphs and patterns. I am so happy to be back with our students and working on some amazing new learning opportunities! Stay warm!
