Peace Ambassadors

2021 - 2022

Jacket Racket: The Eric Harvie Peace Ambassadors will soon be starting our drive for Jacket Racket.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to help other children here in our city, by donating warm outerwear that they no longer need.   It is a valuable experience for our students and reinforces our school’s commitment to peace and citizenship education. We accept new or gently used items.  Bagged items can be brought to the school on Wednesday, November 10 – Wednesday, November 17 and dropped off into bins in front of the school between 8:15 am and 3:30 pm, keeping our Covid rules in place.  Jacket Racket will pick up our donations on Friday, November 19.

The Eric Harvie Peace Ambassadors offers grade 4 students a leadership opportunity in our Eric Harvie school community and it supports our focus on Building Peaceful Communities Together.  We aim to develop peace making skills and challenge students to “make a difference.”

Participation as a Peace Ambassador offers opportunities in the following areas:

·      Building an understanding of student leadership

·      Assisting in the development of a Peaceful Problem Solving Process and modeling it for others

·      Leading the Peaceful Problem Solving Process on the playground during lunch recess

·      Participating in the Right to Play initiative

·      Teaching games and activities during lunch recess

·      Assisting with special events and projects at Eric Harvie school

·      Participating in various school and community service projects

·      Acting as an ambassador for visitors to our school
