Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conference Bookings

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for:

Sep. 24, 2021: Grade 1 - 4 Meet the Teachers Open House

Nov. 26, 2021: Grade K - 4 Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

Nov 27, 2021: Grade K - 4 Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

March 11, 2022: Grade K - 4 Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

March 12, 2022: Grade K - 4 Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

This is another opportunity for parents to check in formally on student success and achievement – and for students to share their efforts and strategies for learning with parents too.

Conference Attendance

Because Eric Harvie School has a very high level of parental attendance at interviews, we adhere to the policy of only one conference per student per semester.  It is very difficult for children and teachers to truly "repeat" a conference – things are not always expressed in the same way and this can lead to confusion or lack of clarity in communication.

Please note we will not allow more than one interview per child to be booked on our conference manager program.  If parents have concerns about this policy, they may contact the principal.  The principal or any member of the Administrative team may attend any conference as requested by the teacher, a member of the diversity team or at the discretion of the principal.

Both custodial and access parents may bring a third party (i.e. step-parent, relative, or friend) with them to the parent-teacher conference at their discretion.  Neither the custodial parent nor the access parent has any authority to refuse the other parent's desire to have a third party attend unless that is clearly indicated in a legal document.  However, third party members cannot be present at a conference without a legally connected parent present (i.e. a step-parent cannot attend alone in lieu of a custodial or access parent) unless there is agreement on behalf of the parent attending.
