The first part of the year will be focused on preparing an Improv Team to send to The Loose Moose Theatresports Tournament that takes place every February/March. Then we will start preparing for the Calgary High School Drama Festival that takes place in early May.

High School Theatresports Tournament

High School teams compete in team on team competitive improvised theatre!

Theatresports - teams of improvisers challenge each other to scenes that are then awarded points by a panel judges or the audience. Theatresports was created by Loose Moose co-founder and former Artistic Director, Keith Johnstone, developed at Loose Moose, and is now performed around the world.

Calgary High School Drama Festival

The Calgary High School Drama Festival (CHSDF) was founded in 1962. After 50 years, what continues to make the festival unique is who organizes and runs it. This isn’t a stand-alone, impersonal, out-of-touch festival. The CHSDF is the product of the brains and hearts of Calgary’s high school Drama teachers, both Public and Catholic, who are working with Calgary’s youth every day. We work together to create a space for students to:

  • Share their work
  • See what other schools are doing
  • Learn directly from industry professionals
  • Connect with like-minded peers
  • Show off how great Calgary Drama students are!
