We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.


The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.  

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.​​

Back to School Information

Please review the links below, these will provide useful information and answer any questions you may have about your first day of school, and our day-to-day expectations of students. 

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes is scheduled for September 1, 2020 and the school office is open to parents Monday to Friday, all year.

August 10, 2020: Timetables will be visible. Timetable changes will be available through the link provided. If your student wishes to request a change to their timetable, please go to the following link. Please read the directions carefully to ensure your advisor has the necessary information to assist you.

August 24, 2020: Counsellors return to school on August 24. Their priorities will be to process the out of province marks, as they are due prior to August 30.

August 27, 2020: Teachers return

August 28, 2020: Grade 12 – Student photos, return forms, parking passes (10 AM – 12 PM) 

August 28, 2020: Grade 11 – Student photos, return forms, parking passes (1 PM – 3 PM)

August 31, 2020: Grade 10 – Student photos, return forms, parking passes (10 AM – 12 PM)

September 1, 2020: First day of classes:

On the first day of school, Tuesday, September 1, we will have a staggered entry day. Students will follow a mini-timetable of periods 2 - 5.

8:30 AM - School doors will open, students can begin to arrive and go directly to their classrooms.

Grade 10 will attend from 8:48 AM- 11:46 AM

            Period 2           8:48 AM - 9:30 AM

            Period 3           9:33 AM - 10:15 PM

            Period 4           10:18 AM - 11:00 AM

            Period 5           11:03 AM - 11:46 AM

The school will be closed at lunch.

12:20 PM - School doors will open, students can begin to arrive and go directly to their classrooms.

Grades 11 and 12 will attend from 12:32 PM - 3:29 PM

            Period 2           12:23 PM - 1:14 PM

            Period 3           1:17 PM - 1:59 PM

            Period 4           2:02 PM - 2:44 PM

            Period 5           2:47 PM - 3:29 PM

We are beginning with the regular schedule on the second day of classes.

Monday – Thursday 8:48 AM – 3:31 PM
Friday 9:00 AM – 1:09 PM

School Supply Lists

School supply lists are distributed by teachers in class.

Students taking Math 10 C, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1, 30-2 will need a graphing calculator.

Our school office is open all year for registration, Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Athletics

Welcome to the Griffin Family!

To all of our Grade 10's and new students welcome to the Griffins Family! Get involved in as many teams as you can this year. Tryouts start right away when school opens we will have all of the information you need to get going.

Our sports season kicks off with Football, Volleyball, Cross Country and Girls Soccer. From there we dive into Swim, Basketball and Badminton. In the Spring, Boys and Girls Rugby, Track and Field, Boys Soccer, and Field Hockey take center stage.

Typically, Volleyball and Football start on August 24, however this year is not a typical year. We are awaiting direction from the Calgary Senior High School Athletics Association for more information for Fall 2020 season.

​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​
