What Does My Child Bring?

Student supplies are provided by the school for children in kindergarten through grade 5.

Your child will need to bring items to school on the first day of classes, click on the link below to see the full list.

Personal Supplies from Home

Students will require the following items from home:
- Full-size backpack
- Lunch kit and water bottle – taken home each day for cleaning
- Two healthy snacks (nut free)

- enough food for lunch that your child can access without support

-Change of clothes/socks and plastic bag (for our youngest learners)

- Indoor shoes (appropriate for PE activities and can put on themselves)

- Weather appropriate outdoor clothing for outdoor PE and outdoor learning activities.

The school provides supplies for learning; items such as pencils and notebooks do not need to be purchased in advance. We kindly ask that students refrain from bringing personal items to school as these are often lost, misplaced or create disruption. If an item is a supportive tool (i.e. fidget) please discuss this beforehand with your child’s teacher. We also have a supply of fidget items that can be given to a child along with coaching about appropriate use.

 Communication

  • Contact Details
Information that you provide us with at the time of your child’s registration is the contact information that we have in our system. It is extremely important for us to ensure we have your most current and accurate contact details on file as this is what allows us to communicate with you efficiently on your child’s behalf.  If your child is on the bus and being picked up by daycare it is important we have this information in our system together with the contact information for the daycare.
  • Communicating Concerns
We encourage parents to communicate with teachers via email for common, school-related issues and inquiries.
  • Important! | Subscribe to Stay Informed!
To receive emails and regular communications from the CBE and our school (SchoolMessenger), you will need to subscribe online.
  • SchoolMessenger
Often our school will send out communications and/or notices to families via email through SchoolMessenger. Communications will include reminders, updates, newsletters and/or school notifications.  Don't forget, you need to subscribe to receive messages from the school.

Get Involved at Our School

  • School Council
We have an open invitation for parents to attend our monthly meetings.
  • School Enrichment Society (Parent Society)
Eugene Coste’s Enrichment Society is the collective effort of parents who help organize and host our school’s special events and fundraising efforts.
  • Volunteering
We love to have volunteers help us in the school, classroom, on field trips and other projects! We usually start our Volunteer program in October. Learn how to become a volunteer today!

  • Can I Register My Child for the Bus?
All students living within the designated communities for Eugene Coste School are eligible for busing and transportation services.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2023-24 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2023-24 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed. Should routes change or if qualified students are added to a route and the bus becomes overcrowded, conditional riders may be removed to accommodate these changes.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
