Dear Parents/Guardians,
I thank you for
coming out to our recent Parent/Teacher/Student conferences. The turn our was wonderful. We strive to have a collaborative working
relationship with our families to support our students and continue to
encourage you to contact your child’s classroom teacher should you have any
quesitons or concerns.
At this time I
would like to remind families of their commitment to having your children in
the appropriate TLC uniform. All
uniform pieces must be clean, tidy, in good repair and fit appropriately. All uniform pieces should be clearly and
permanently labelled so that in the event that a piece is found it may be
returned to the correct student. Due to
the markings left on school floors by many of our student’s dress shoes, we
moved to allowing students to wear all black non-marking soled shoes. Black shoes with white soles, shoes with
white or coloured markings and coloured laces are not acceptable. Should you require more information please
refer to the TLC uniform information at www.cbe.ab.ca/programs/program-options/teaching-philosopy/Pages/Traditional-Learning-Centre.aspx.
We would like to remind parents that Fairmount Drive and
Fyffe Road are mainly school bus loading zones and have posted no parking
signs. While this can make it difficult
for dropping off and picking up students, we are asking that you do not park in
these areas. We are working with the
Calgary Police Services, the City of Calgary and Southland Transportation to
review our bus zones and ensure the safety of all.
Fairview will be hosting a Book Fair for students December
10 -13, 2018. On December 10th,
students will be scheduled to preview the items for sale and will have a “wish
list” that they can take home. Parents
may send monies with students to purchase between the 11-13th. Should parents/guardians wish to see what is
for sale they may attend the book fair over the lunch hour (12:22 – 1:07)
Monday to Thursday or Wednesday evening 4:15 – 6:45pm and Thursday evening 4:15
– 6:30pm. Should you wish to volunteer
for our book fair please contact Ms. Duggal in the library.
We have begun the process to convert our current library
space into an updated Learning Commons area.
To support this endeavour, the school applied for and were fortunate to
be given a grant through EducationMatters.
These funds along with school funds and funds provided to us from the Fairview
Fundraising Society (Parent Council) will see the Learning Commons begin to
take shape beginning in January of 2019.
I thank our Parent Council for supporting us and encourage parents to
join the council meetings. Council
meetings occur the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm in the
Fairview Learning Commons (Library).
Sincerely,
Therese
