On behalf of
the staff at Fairview School, I would like to welcome all of the students and
parents to another new school year filled with rich and rewarding learning
experiences and opportunities for all students.
We have
grown in student numbers and staff for the 2019-20 school year. Fairview is 870 plus students strong. Our teaching staff and support staff is
currently at 50 plus and we are hoping to add to this in the very near
future. Our additions will be in the
area of lunch time supervision and English Language Learner supports.
I thank all
of our families for being patient with school start-up as we did run into a few
concerns with bus transportation. We do
believe that these errors have been corrected and that all families are now
able to register for bus transportation.
If you have not registered we ask that you do so. We may still experience some changes to
transportation as the CBE and bus provider adjust to accurate student loads.
We had a
wonderful turn out for our Meet the Teacher evening. Our format allows parents to understand what
your child experiences on a day-to-day basis and provides you with the
opportunity to meet each of their teachers.
With
September coming to a close it is our expectation that families have purchased
the appropriate TLC uniform items. One
of the biggest uniform infractions is shoes.
Students must wear all black, non-marking soled shoes. If these are dress shoes, they must have
non-marking soles. Teachers will be
addressing those students who are not complying with uniform requirements
beginning October 1st. This
may result in your child not being able to wear casual clothing on the next
casual day. Should this occur, your
homeroom teacher will notify you that your child has lost their casual day privileges.
We must also
remind parents that the streets surrounding Fairview School are bus zones and
do not allow for parking. Please obey
these signs as you may receive a ticket from the Calgary Police Services or
Calgary Bylaw Services.
September
has flown by with the highlights being our Meet the Teacher evening, the Terry
Fox Run and our Anti-bullying presentation from Leo Barbe.
We have only
just begun and I look forward to the exciting year ahead.
Ms. McCoag
Principal
